About Getting Over It

Getting Over It is a climbing arcade game in which you carefully use a hammer to climb the mountain. Keep calm and beat them all to break the record.

Getting Over It with Bennett Foddy is a platformer video game created by developer Bennett Foddy and released on October 7, 2017. The game consists of a mountain with many levels and obstacles that the player must overcome using very player-unfriendly controls (a signature game mechanic by Bennett Foddy). The game also features quotes from famous writers and musicians as the player falls down the mountain, and a monologue voiced by Bennett Foddy as the player ascends the mountain.

The steam way of Getting Over It is very simple. You play as a shirtless guy trying to climb a very, very high mountain, all the while being stuck in a pot. If that doesn't make things challenging enough, Foddy has thrown his trademark wrench into everything. Like his previous QWOP hit, Getting Over It actively battles players by giving them nothing but a sledgehammer to work with as the mountain becomes more dangerous. If you fall off after hours of effort, you have to start over from the bottom.

The game increases in difficulty as the player progresses up the mountain. No checkpoints. The player runs the risk of constantly losing some or all of their progress. The game ends when the player reaches the top of the map and then enters space. When it comes to a conclusion, a message will ask the player if they are recording the game. When a player indicates they are not, the game provides access to a chat room created by other players who have completed the game.
